or rapid eye movement, accounts for 20 25% of adults total sleep time. These cycles last between 90 120 minutes. periods per night. These periods of sleep are absolutely vital to the ongoing health and restorative process of the human body.

Individuals that have chronic sleep problems often are unable to reach this state during nightly sleep routine. sleep is ongoing; the individual can suffer many different health problems. period. Snoring is defined as deep breathing combined with the harsh snorting sounds as the soft palate vibrates. There are many variations of snoring such as soft short quiet sounds or loud, harsh snorting and gasping sounds. Snoring is uncomfortable for both the snorer and their partner and with the very audible snorer; the entire household can be disturbed by the sounds.

Medical Technology Creates A Snoring Appliance That Guarantees A Restful Sleep

For the severe snorer, the medical field has identified obstructive sleep apnea as a medical concern. This is a medical condition that occurs when the breathing of the snorer is disrupted to such an extent that breathing is actually stopped during sleep. A snoring appliance has been created to assist sleep apnea victims and restore their sleep patterns and piece of mind; the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine, also known as CPAP (pronounced see pap).

This revolutionary snoring appliance provides continuous positive airway pressure and airflow into the throat, keeping the airway open for clean and quiet breathing and prevents the blockage that was causing the discontinuation of breathing and the apnea to occur. The CPAP system prevents the snoring and apnea and provides everyone with a quiet and restful nights sleep.

It should be noted that the use of the CPAP system as a solution to the snoring and sleep apnea is a lifelong commitment. This snoring appliance must be used nightly to be effective. This is something that requires the ongoing use of the machine to provide the restful sleep that is desired, it does not repair the body but rather assists the body in accomplishing what it is unable to do naturally.

If you discontinue use, the snoring appliance is ineffective and the symptoms will return immediately. However, for those that are willing to make this nightly commitment, the restful sleep you have been seeking is no longer a dream.

Sleep Apnoea What You Need To Know

There are a range of treatment options which can be used to treat sleep apnoea. You may be required to lose weight, to go through surgery or to use CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) therapy. CPAP therapy is used to treat OSA and uses a machine which blows air that’s pressurized from a motor through a mask worn over the mouth and nose when you sleep.

Sleep Apnea Machine Effective Treatment for Sweet Sleep

Sleep apnea is a disorder whereby you experience a pause in your breathing during sleep. When breathing resumes, you will normally make a choking or grunting noise. A person with sleep apnea cannot know that they have the condition and it is also difficult to diagnose it. With early diagnosis, you may discover that you are suffering from obstructive apnea, which has long term effects. If that is not the case, they can still suggest other essential options for treating your snoring problem.

mulberry style purse Aviation incidents during World War II

This aviation incident happened during World War II. As I have indicated in earlier articles, we were training first pilots and flight instructors at a four engine B 24 Air Base in Tennessee. A staff sergeant crew chief on an airplane I occasionally flew, told me about this scary incident with his airplane by one of our cocky flight instructors. The crew chief was fortunate to be alive to tell the story. This is how it happened.

The instructor and two officer students were on the local daylight flight in the four engine B 24 Liberator. The cocky flight instructor decided to show off for his new students. He feathered all four props and stopped his engines. Suddenly, he had a “lead sled” glider, coming down fast! Since he was descending faster than he expected, the dimwit instructor had to quickly unfeather the propellers and restart the engines or crash. However, with his power plants not operating, the electric generators couldn’t provide the necessary electric current to unfeather the props. The batteries were too weak for that purpose.

Fortunately, the B 24 had another source of electricity in the Bombay. It was a four cylinder gasoline generator. The alert crew chief sergeant rushed to the Bombay and quickly got it running. By the time the instructor restarted two of the four engines, the aircraft was close to the tree tops. Barely maintaining his altitude and close to stalling, he was able to get all four engines running and flew safely back to the airbase. After landing, the crew chief promptly reported the incident, and the reckless flight instructor was immediately sent somewhere, because we never saw him again. I’m sure he paid a penalty.

Another incident my student pilots and I endured at the same four engine bomber base during World War II, is firmly in my memory to this day. I already mentioned the four cylinder gasoline generator in the Bombay of the B 24. In those days, we didn’t have the more efficient alternator but used generators on the engines for electric power. Unfortunately, the generators wouldn’t produce electricity unless the engines were operating 1,400 1,500 RPM. Using that much RPM on four engines on the ground caused the airplane to taxi too fast, which was wearing on the brakes.

The problem was worse at night for taxiing, as there was an added burden on the electric system with wing lights and landing lights to aid in ground vision, radio, etc. The battery couldn’t handle the demand for the additional electricity and at slow taxiing, everything operated by electricity would quit. It was not a nice situation. This is where the gasoline generator came into use. It provided the necessary electricity for this need.

One dark night, we were taxiing out to fly with everything electric operating, including the gasoline engine generator in the Bombay. Suddenly, the entire airplane filled with dense choking smoke. I yelled to the crew to abandon the airplane through the bomb doors for best exit away from the propellers. The engines were shut down as I waited for all the crew to get out. However, when my turn came, the smoke was so bad I couldn’t see and I could hardly breathe. Descending into the Bombay, the smoke was worse. It was necessary that blinded, I shouldn’t get confused and walk into any props still turning. Fortunately, I felt my way to the rear and got out safely. The firemen arrived and put the smoking fire out. Someone had carelessly left an oily rag near the exhaust of the gasoline engine generator in the Bombay, resulting in it smoking badly and catching fire.

One week later, an identical incident happened at night with another smoke filled B 24. All the crew but the flight instructor went out to the rear safely. In a panic, the young flight instructor failed to cut his engines, apparently blinded and confused by the smoke, exited toward the front of the bomber and the props killed him.

Two thousand, five hundred and fifty five Army Air Corps personnel were killed in training during World War II. Dead is dead, whether in combat or in training.

In the fall of 1925 my father entered the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA. He was on the baseball team and was required to take a “War Training” class. He was also on the football team for a period of time, but had to stop in order to earn some money by working as a laboratory employee. Football was very time consuming and there was little time for sports in spite of a lot of pressure from his fellow students and the coaches. As a result he received an F in football.

He did stay on the baseball team however and played the Saxophone in the ‘Cal Tech’ Band and marched in the Rose Bowl Parade on January 1, 1926. All in the band were required to wear white shoes. my father couldn’t afford a new pair of shoes so he wore the only white ones he owned, his tennis shoes. By the end of the five mile march they were almost worn out as well as his feet. He graduated in June of 1928 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) and received Registered Professional Engineer License, State of California, No. 3NE5663.

After graduation he went to work at BOYLE MANUFACTURING COMPANY but after six weeks got fed up and quit. He didn’t like the management nor the type of work. His job was to weld barrels and oversee a group of Mexicans and Blacks unloading freight cars.

My father’s next job suited him much better at Burt Kinner’s company being Kinner’s first graduate engineer.

Kinner Aeroplane and Motor Corp

After working at KINNER one year, my father married Norma Lucile Forman in Santa Ana, CA. June 25, 1929. He took his bride to live in a rented two bedroom house at 2048 Watson Street, Glendale, CA. After a couple years renting the little house he bought it. 12, 1934.

In 1947 Walt had bought the house next door ( a matching twin to ours) and converted the two into one lovely four bedroom home where the family “stayed put” for the next thirteen years.

In 1960, after a total of forty one years living on Watson St. my father and mother moved to the Righter Ranch at 12751 South Tustin Ave. Orange, CA. (Tel: KEllog 8 1711) In September 1966 my father sold the ranch and moved a few blocks away to 12912 Malena Drive, Santa Ana, CA where he and Norma lived out their lives.

In May 1933 my father was laid off due to the Great Depression but never one to let his family down took on a number of ‘odd’ jobs ‘to keep bread on the table’.

The Helms Bakery had trucks (more like vans) filled with breads and pastries. They drove through neighborhoods street by street. Once a week they would be on Watson St. The driver tooted a little whistle all day long everyday gripped between his lips as he drove along in hopes the ladies of the house would hear him and come out with their pocketbooks in hand. My father invented a gadget using a tube connected to the motor’s manifold. He set it up so a hand valve could be opened and the vacuum would make sounds like the drivers made using their hand whistles. McNEIL Company Contractors, Inc. Established in 1886 were located at 5860 Avalon Blvd. Los angles, CA (Tel: AXridge 9035) My father worked on an engine design. When the project was finished they wrote a job recommendation for him.

“We take pleasure in recommending Mr. Walter H. Righter as a very competent and skillful engine designer. Mr. Righter has been employed by the undersigned for the past year, and during that time has turned out work that has been highly satisfactory. In addition to being trustworthy and honest, he is also very diligent and very much on the job, and I cannot recommend him too highly.”

My father designed a new under chord on a plane for American Airways. The company, located in Glendale CA. later became VULTEE AIRCRAFT COMPANY

My father returned to KINNER in 1934 and was responsible for the design of valve gear, cams, supercharger mechanisms and related components. The plant once again shut down in Sept. 1939

Short term, contract engineering jobs

While working for Jerry Vultee, my father was the chief engineer on the V1 A “VULTEE “.

The V1 A Vultee

President and Chief Engineer, my father went into business for himself in 1936. First in his own back yard ‘shop’ which was attached to the garage at 2048 Watson St. Glendale, CA. (Tel: 1113 W). Here he produced the first “Dennymites” with me his daughter Frances as his first and most enthusiastic ‘assemblyman’ and at age 4, his youngest.

CVS/Caremark’s decision to end tobacco sales in its stores will take a toll on a local business, Avanti Cigars, whose products were carried in most of the chain’s 7,600 stores, where they shared shelves with global giants.

CVS was among the largest accounts for the privately owned company that recently relocated from North Scranton to Dunmore, said Dominic Keating, Avanti Cigars president.

Changes in how cigars are purchased and distributed will help Avanti close the gap, Mr. Keating said.

Avanti produces and markets machine rolled, 100 percent tobacco cigars under brands including Parodi, De Nobili and Ram Rod.

“If this happened 25 years ago, I would have reacted by getting a bottle of Maker’s Mark,” joked Mr. Keating. Eventually, Mr. Keating would like to include a retail locator that would direct customers to the nearest outlet for Avanti products.

The Avanti logo also got a makeover, borrowing the image of the trained seal long featured on Parodi cigar packaging. The story holds that Parodi’s Italian founders, attempting to incorporate in the United States more than 100 years ago, misunderstood the requirement to have a “corporate seal,” saying, “It’s an odd tradition, but we’ll do it.”

Mr. Keating’s grandfather and two uncles later bought Parodi out of bankruptcy in 1925 and moved it to Scranton. Avanti also added a new product called Estilo Cafe Mocha, an infused cigar.

Mr. Keating understands CVS’s decision.

As the drug store chain expanded health care services available in stores, tobacco products seem more out of place. CVS was a small, New England drug store chain when it placed its first Avanti order in 1982. As CVS grew, the account grew, and CVS gave the small company’s products space alongside global tobacco giants. Serving CVS greatly expanded Avanti’s customer base, Mr. Keating said.

“I don’t begrudge CVS,” he said. “I appreciate the opportunity they have given our small company to reach more consumers.”

CVS won’t remove tobacco products until October, giving Avanti time to adjust. Some customers have contacted the company, asking for alternative outlets for Avanti.

“Our job is to make sure our customers can continue to buy our products either through direct sales or other distributors,” Mr. Keating said.

Details have been released from late Toronto Blue Jays star Roy Halladay’s autopsy, with blunt force trauma combined with drowning announced as the cause of death.

His blood alcohol content level was 0.01, per toxicology reports, and there was also evidence of amphetamine, morphine and a drug typically used to treat insomnia found in his body.

The right handed pitcher was among the most popular players in Blue Jays history. After being selected with the 17th overall pick in 1995,

In 2003, Halladay won a club record 22 games en route to his first Cy Young Award and was the backbone of the franchise through the first decade of the 2000s as the Blue Jays unsuccessfully tried to catch the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox in the American League East.

His trade to the Philadelphia Phillies in December 2009 was a gutting moment for the organization, with fans largely siding with Halladay for demanding a trade away from a team on the verge of a rebuild.

After taking office in 2015, Phillips wanted to make headway on a campaign promise to bring new businesses into the city. O’Reilly’s Auto Parts was one of several businesses he hoped to court, so he reached out to the business directly.

“They said that a store in Campbell actually would fill a hole in their coverage area, so they were excited to talk. Eventually, we made a deal, and they decided to buy the property.”

O’Reilly’s paid $15,000 for a vacant spot at 403 McCartney Road. Before building at the location, Phillips said the site was in need of a major cleaning.

“That spot looked like a wasteland,” Phillips said. “They did a good job getting it cleaned up.”

The tax revenue generated from the business is much needed by the city, which has seen its revenue pool dry up as its aging population continues to move onto fixed incomes or leave the area.

Over the past two months, Campbell leaders have hosted town hall meetings to discuss the potential sale of the water plant, the last major asset the city owns. Should the city sell the plant, the only options for generating significant revenue for the city are to court new businesses or develop its brownfield sites.

“It’s always a big plus whenever a business opens in your city, especially when you’re a struggling community financially,” Phillips said. “I’d love to get some big businesses in here, too, but I’ll take all the O’Reilly’s I can get.”

You might wonder what took VW so long to produce a Golf sized SUV that sits under the bigger (and growing) Tiguan, and as expected it’s likely to be a big hit.It ushers in a new level of design emotion for the brand, with a cute, compact shape and lots of personalisation options. Best of all, it’s great to drive with spirited engines and a chassis that blends control and fun with a fair degree of comfort.Inside there’s more space for passengers and luggage than in a Golf (thanks to the increased height), plus plenty of hi tech connectivity, autonomous driving and safety kit available. Volkswagen T Roc vs Audi Q2 vs MINI CountrymanHowever, somewhat surprisingly for a VW, the quality of the plastics in the cabin are poor more in keeping with a budget brand than a Volkswagen. That’s especially so given the list prices, which are close to premium. Our ChoiceVW T Roc 1.0 litre TSI SEThe Volkswagen T Roc shares its wheelbase and the widely used VW Group MQB platform with the Audi Q2, but we’ll leave you to decide which is the better looking of the two.It enters one of the most popular and fastest growing sectors of the car market, battling other SUVs that sit between the likes of the Nissan Juke and Qashqai in size, not unlike Vauxhall’s Mokka X.Image 2 of 33Buyers love the 4×4 style, higher seating position and extra space inside in a footprint that’s no larger than an average family hatchback. Of course, VW also has the Tiguan in its line up, but that SUV has grown in its latest incarnation, with prices rising accordingly. And elsewhere in the group there are cars like SEAT’s Arona and Ateca, plus Skoda’s Karoq. Best crossovers and small SUVsYou’ve only got one bodystyle to choose from in the T Roc range, but the line up of engine choices is huge: three petrol and two diesel, with 114, 148 and 188bhp options on the petrol side in 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 litre sized or 114 and 148bhp choices for the 1.6 and two 2.0 litre diesels.Four wheel drive is also an option, as are auto gearboxes with some engines. There’s no out and out performance version yet a hot T Roc R with around 300bhp has been rumoured.A total of five different trim levels are offered. Order books for SE, Design and SE L cars are open now, while the entry level S grade car and the sporty looking T Roc R Line will go on sale early in 2018. only two petrol versions are available; the 148bhp 1.5 litre EVO unit, and the 187bhp 2.0 litre TSI mated to 4MOTION all wheel drive.Engines, performance and drive4.4As part of VW’s push to get more emotion into its range, the T Roc is a fun car to drive. The steering is quick to react and responsive on the move, there’s plenty of grip on offer, while the chassis provides a good blend of control and comfort. Some of the more expensive models give you a chance to adjust various driving settings, including the ride comfort. In the top spec 2.0 litre petrol with auto gearbox and four wheel drive, we’d set the drive mode to Sport the combination of engine, DSG gearbox and 4motion four wheel drive means acceleration can feel a little hesitant in normal mode.Image 3 of 33There are also Eco and Comfort modes but if you can delve into the Individual setting and adjust the gearbox, steering and throttle response to Sport mode while keeping the suspension in comfort, you’ll come close to achieving the best of all worlds. The sport setting can leave you wincing a little over the worst jolts in the road (although our car was on optional 19 inch wheels), but comfort is more pliant, while still keeping you in touch with the state of the surface. It’s a nice blend of luxury and control.Driving the T Roc around town is both fun and easy you can perfectly judge the four corners of the car, while visibility is good all round. This is a car that’s easy to park, although you can order your car with self parking technology, too.Refinement is impressive, especially on the motorway. There was a bit of wind noise as the air gets pushed around the big door mirrors and slaps on the side windows, but it’s only really noticeable because everything else is so quiet.Engines1.0 litre engine is a little star and should work well in the T Roc, while new 1.5 litre petrol offers perky performance and excellent refinement. The range topping 2.0 litre ups the fun factor and there are two diesels if you want them.We suspect the new 148bhp 1.5 litre petrol engine will be the pick of the range, but we’d try the 114bhp 1.0 litre three cylinder engine first it’s a great little engine that works well in the Audi Q2 and can be really fun to drive without being too buzzy. Volkswagen reckons that this engine will be the most popular option once sales get fully underway.Image 4 of 33We’ve driven the current range topper, the 187bhp 2.0 litre petrol, which offers warm hatch rivalling performance, impressive refinement and decent economy, too.Although diesels are declining in popularity and will account for around 20 per cent of sales partly due to the excellence of new petrol engines they’re still the best choice for high mileage drivers and the 114bhp 1.6 and 148bhp 2.0 litre are proven elsewhere in the VW Groups cars. The 2.0 litre TDI engine is as solid as it is elsewhere in Volkswagen’s range,

LAKE DELHI (KWWL) A Manchester man pleaded not guilty to criminal charges after being accused of driving a vehicle that plunged into Lake Delhi, killing one passenger last month.According to online court records, Joshua C. Juengel entered a written plea this morning to charges of making a false report, leaving the scene of an accident and homicide by vehicle. He was arrested last month.Alex Salow, 23, was found dead in a car, which was sitting in about eight feet of water in Delhi Lake. Delhi and Manchester firefighters saw the man in the car with an underwater camera. A diver was called to the scene, and a crane was used to get the vehicle out of the water.Jengel told investigators that he had been in the vehicle with Salow but exited long before the vehicle went through the ice. Investigation at the scene indicated that another person had been in the vehicle when it went through the ice. Evidence shows that the vehicle was being operated in a reckless manner, then plunged through the ice Sunday, January 7. Juengel left the scene.”There’s evidence that suggests someone else might have been there,” said Delaware County Sheriff John LeClere Wednesday morning.According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation showed that Salow and a second person, who has been identified, left Smokey’s Grill on Sunday evening, January 7th around 7:30 8 PM and traveled northbound on the ice of Lake Delhi. As part of the investigation, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are seeking the public’s assistance. Investigators are trying to identify a separate driver who picked up the person who was in Salow’s vehicle in the area of Lake Delhi around 7:30 8:00 PM Sunday evening, and gave that person a ride to a residence in Manchester. The Delaware County Sheriff says neighbors saw a car doing doughnuts on Lake Delhi before a man’s body was pulled from the lake.Neighbors who live near Lake Delhi say they saw rescue crews and first responders in the area that evening. Mark Hempstead, who’s lived in the area more than 30 years, says it’s a first.”You have instances on the river, but never this close, not right out your front door,” said Hempstead. The news is shaking the close knit community of Delhi. Hempstead said he golfs with Salow’s uncles.”Terrible terrible, these are two of my best friends and to know they’ve lost someone in their family is terrible,” said Hempstead.”For years, you’ve seen vehicles all over that river, the ice gets that thick,” said Hempstead. “But I’m just afraid out here there’s a current. Ice is not going to build underneath of a current. It’s just a terrible terrible loss too young for this to happen to somebody.”Hempstead has one message for others going out on the ice.”Know your ice is thick enough before you go out there please,” said Hempstead. “I just lost a good family friend because of it.”UPDATE: Implosion of iconic bridge in Sabula, Jackson CountyVIDEO: Sabula bridge in Jackson County demolitionUpdated: Friday, March 9 2018 7:12 PM EST2018 03 10 00:12:38 GMTA long standing bridge in eastern Iowa comes crashing down during a demolition.A long standing bridge in eastern Iowa comes crashing down during a demolition.SIGNS OF SPRING: Birds flock back to the area as ice meltsSIGNS OF SPRING: Birds flock back to the area as ice meltsUpdated: Friday, March 9 2018 6:20 PM EST2018 03 09 23:20:48 GMT”It’s just a good excuse to get out finally, it’s not as icy on the trails as what it has been.””It’s just a good excuse to get out finally, it’s not as icy on the trails as what it has been.”Burlington man accused of purposely knocking baby to groundBurlington man accused of purposely knocking baby to groundUpdated: Friday, March 9 2018 5:59 PM EST2018 03 09 22:59:09 GMT
